Job Overview
- OpenLoop is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join its Product Engineering organization in Toronto, Canada. OpenLoop builds nationwide telehealth support infrastructure engineered to streamline virtual care delivery across all 50 US states. In this role, the engineer will design, construct, and scale production-grade software solutions powering clinical workflows, partner integrations, patient engagement tools, and core system architectures.
- The position involves working across the full application stack—ranging from backend APIs and databases to cloud infrastructure and data synchronization pipelines. Engineers will collaborate closely with product managers, technical leads, and clinical teams to translate complex partner requirements into robust, high-performing software features.
Key Responsibilities
- ✦ Architect and execute platform integrations to onboard new healthcare partners and adapt system workflows to legacy technical environments.
- ✦ Construct secure, high-throughput data pipelines to ingest clinical information and synchronize data with internal AI platforms.
- ✦ Configure, optimize, and maintain telephony infrastructure supporting messaging and voice communications across partner networks.
- ✦ Collaborate across software engineering, product design, and clinical operations to convert partner needs into clear technical deliverables.
- ✦ Perform additional software engineering, maintenance, and platform architecture tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- ✦ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- ✦ 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and deploying production-grade systems in modern cloud environments.
- ✦ Comprehensive technical fluency across the entire application stack, including backend APIs, relational/non-relational databases, and cloud infrastructure.
- ✦ Strong background in data security best practices and familiarity with industry compliance standards for handling sensitive clinical information.
- ✦ Excellent technical communication capabilities with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders and clarify ambiguous partner requirements.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- ✦ In-depth experience connecting disparate software systems, including API interoperability, third-party integrations, and complex data ingestion.
- ✦ Practical experience or strong interest in operationalizing Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI tools within production software systems.
Employment Structure and Administration
- ✦ Employment for this position is administered through an official Employer of Record (EOR) partner in Canada.
- ✦ While daily software development, team management, and operations are led directly by OpenLoop Health, Inc., the legal employer for payroll, administration, and statutory benefits will be the EOR partner.
What the Company Offers
- ✦ Flexible paid time off (PTO) policy.
- ✦ Structured hybrid working schedule in Toronto.
- ✦ Competitive salary accompanied by equity options and potential bonus eligibility.
- ✦ Comprehensive Canadian employee benefits package delivered through an Employer of Record partner.
- ✦ 401(k) retirement plan featuring company matching contributions.
Application Tips
- Applicants may want to highlight their experience designing scalable APIs, building third-party integration pipelines, and maintaining data security in cloud environments. Demonstrating past achievements in connecting legacy software with modern cloud architectures, as well as working with voice/messaging communications or LLM/AI services, will effectively align with the job requirements. Candidates should also showcase their experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and translating complex business requirements into clear technical specifications, alongside confirming their availability for the hybrid schedule in Toronto.
