Job OverviewThis volunteer position focuses on optimizing and maintaining the public web presence of Global Social Innovators CIC. The selected developer will collaborate with the UX/UI team to translate design concepts, wireframes, and prototypes into responsive, functional web pages. Core responsibilities include styling pages using custom CSS, managing WordPress platforms via Elementor, and embedding third-party plugins or widgets to enhance interactive capabilities. The role also involves overseeing routine website maintenance, monitoring performance, fixing layout bugs, and maintaining cross-browser and accessibility standards. Key Responsibilities
- • Convert UX/UI wireframes, prototypes, and visual assets into responsive web pages using clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- • Build, customize, and manage site structures using the WordPress platform and Elementor page builder.
- • Write custom CSS code to adjust page styling, modify pre-built layouts, and overcome template constraints.
- • Identify, configure, and integrate third-party plugins, widgets, contact forms, search filters, and social feeds.
- • Perform ongoing website maintenance, including theme and plugin updates, backup management, link repairs, and security monitoring.
- • Test cross-browser performance, optimize page load speeds, resolve display glitches, and maintain WCAG accessibility compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- • Experience in front-end development using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and popular Content Management Systems.
- • Practical experience in customizing and managing WordPress websites using Elementor.
- • Ability to write custom CSS for layout modifications and pixel-perfect design execution.
- • Demonstrated background in website maintenance, site speed optimization, and plugin administration.
- • Proven capability to implement and test third-party scripts, widgets, and custom site features.
- • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose layout conflicts, browser compatibility issues, and plugin errors independently.
- • Ability to work remotely while meeting agreed project milestones and collaborating effectively with UX/UI design teams.
- • Must be based in the UK with a minimum of three years of professional experience using these skills (or relevant lived experience).
