Job Overview
- Presto Phoenix, Inc. is seeking a skilled Web Developer to build and enhance the web applications that power its industry-leading Voice AI drive-thru platform. Headquartered in Silicon Valley and backed by Y Combinator and Remus Capital, Presto creates real-world artificial intelligence solutions for over a dozen iconic restaurant brands. This hands-on frontend engineering role focuses on developing production-grade user interfaces, from internal operator management dashboards to client-facing configuration systems.
- Working in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment, the developer will write clean, reliable React code while partnering closely with AI researchers, backend engineers, UI/UX designers, and product leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- ★ Construct, test, and maintain production-ready frontend web applications utilizing React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- ★ Engineer scalable, reusable React components while implementing clean and efficient state management architecture.
- ★ Manage the end-to-end frontend software lifecycle, ranging from initial prototyping to production deployment and monitoring.
- ★ Partner with backend engineers to integrate front-end applications with RESTful and GraphQL API services.
- ★ Write maintainable, well-tested code and actively participate in peer code reviews to enforce quality standards.
- ★ Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across the stack to improve system reliability and execution speed.
- ★ Participate in system architecture discussions and help establish frontend engineering standards and best practices.
- ★ Utilize Node.js to support build processes, development tooling, and lightweight backend service layers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- ★ Solid practical experience utilizing foundational web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript.
- ★ Proven hands-on track record building production web applications with React.
- ★ Familiarity with Node.js for software tooling, light backend services, or full-stack development tasks.
- ★ Practical experience integrating client-side applications with REST and GraphQL API layers.
- ★ Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, software testing, and application debugging.
- ★ Demonstrated ability to succeed in fast-paced, evolving startup environments with high individual autonomy.
- ★ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across asynchronous time zones.
Preferred Qualifications
- ★ Experience implementing responsive, mobile-first web designs with cross-browser compatibility.
- ★ Familiarity with web accessibility guidelines and compliance standards, such as WCAG 2.1.
- ★ Exposure to continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- ★ Hands-on experience developing real-time user interfaces or data-intensive web dashboards.
- ★ Previous background working within a high-growth startup or AI-native technology firm.
What the Company Offers
- ★ Annual base salary range between CAD $55,000 and CAD $92,000 (for Canada-based roles).
- ★ Company equity package aligning individual performance with long-term enterprise growth.
- ★ Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans for Canada-based team members.
- ★ Retirement savings support through a 401(k) program.
- ★ Paid time off (PTO) allocation.
Application Tips
- Applicants may want to highlight their production experience building complex React applications and integrating asynchronous REST or GraphQL APIs. On your resume, emphasize past projects involving data-heavy dashboards, real-time UI components, or performance optimization. Demonstrating experience with Node.js tooling, testing frameworks, or web accessibility standards can further strengthen your candidate profile.
