Job Overview

This contract-based Software Engineering Specialist position offers experienced developers the opportunity to contribute to the evaluation and training of advanced artificial intelligence systems from a fully remote location. Rather than requiring prior AI development experience, the role leverages deep domain expertise in traditional software engineering, system architecture, and technical communication. Core duties involve analyzing system designs, producing high-level technical documentation such as RFCs and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), conducting thorough code reviews, and evaluating software performance trade-offs. Additionally, specialists write structured testing strategies and articulate complex technical reasoning in clear English to guide model learning. This opportunity is exceptionally well-suited for seasoned software engineers with over three years of production experience who possess exceptional technical writing skills and enjoy breaking down architectural decisions and code quality in a structured, analytical manner.

★ Detail technical decision-making logic, system design considerations, and architectural trade-off analyses.
★ Review code submissions and architectural proposals to deliver structured, written feedback on code quality and improvements.
★ Author technical documentation, including Request for Comments (RFCs), Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and system specifications.
★ Perform in-depth debugging and code reviews while providing step-by-step written explanations of technical solutions.
★ Formulate comprehensive automation testing plans and performance evaluation reports following industry best practices.
★ Communicate intricate software engineering concepts and architectural principles using clear, concise written language.

★ Minimum 3 years of professional experience building and deploying production-grade software using modern technology stacks.
★ Proven track record in technical writing, including drafting RFCs, ADRs, design specifications, or detailed code review notes.
★ Advanced analytical skills focused on system design architecture, performance optimization, and real-world software debugging.
★ Exceptional written English skills capable of explaining complex technical topics clearly to diverse audiences.
★ Working familiarity with automation testing frameworks and structured performance trade-off analysis techniques.
★ Background collaborating with recognized technology organizations or prominent academic institutions.
★ Strong interest in roles that blend deep technical engineering expertise with precise technical writing.

This role may be suitable for candidates who are experienced software engineers looking for flexible, high-paying contract work in an international remote setting. It is particularly well-suited for developers who excel at technical writing, documentation, and code analysis, and who enjoy explaining the underlying reasons behind complex architectural decisions. Candidates do not need prior experience in artificial intelligence, but should have a strong background in production software systems, code reviews, and debugging. Engineers who have previously authored design documents, contributed to open-source or enterprise standards, or worked with leading academic or corporate institutions will find their expertise highly applicable here.

Applicants may want to emphasize their technical documentation and writing experience on their resume, specifically citing examples of RFCs, design specifications, or Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) they have authored. Highlighting experience with code reviews, system design analysis, and performance optimization in production environments will help demonstrate alignment with the role's core responsibilities. Candidates should also feature any past contributions to major open-source projects, high-impact enterprise engineering initiatives, or recognized academic work. Demonstrating exceptional clarity in written communication and showcasing a strong foundation in modern software engineering stacks will further strengthen an application for this specialized contract position.
