Job Overview

  • Travelers is seeking motivated students for its 2027 Engineering Development Program (EDP) Co-op Internship, a four-month experience commencing in January. Operating primarily in a remote setting with optional hybrid arrangements for candidates near Hartford, CT, this internship is crafted to give emerging software engineering talent practical, hands-on experience in enterprise technology. Participants will apply academic computer science concepts to real-world software engineering challenges while receiving structured guidance from dedicated co-op managers and technical mentors.
  • Throughout the program, co-op interns will engage with a comprehensive business and technology curriculum, collaborate on group projects to present solutions to business topics, and participate in company-wide events such as the Intern Symposium and community outreach initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • ✦ Apply computer science principles and object-oriented programming concepts to deliver real-world software engineering solutions.
  • ✦ Participate actively in technical and business development training modules to build enterprise software capabilities.
  • ✦ Partner with an assigned co-op manager and technical mentors to receive guidance, code reviews, and performance feedback.
  • ✦ Collaborate with fellow interns on team projects to design, analyze, and present solutions for technical and business challenges.
  • ✦ Attend company-wide networking and professional development events, including the Travelers Intern Symposium and community outreach programs.
  • ✦ Perform additional engineering tasks, system analysis, and project support duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • ✦ Currently enrolled in or completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in a technology or business-related field with a technology minor.
  • ✦ Legal authorization to work in the United States currently and in the future without requiring sponsorship.
  • ✦ Foundational knowledge and practical exposure to Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) in at least one major programming language.
  • ✦ Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills for diagnosing technical issues.
  • ✦ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal capabilities.
  • ✦ Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team-based environments with shared accountability.
  • ✦ High learning agility and a strong sense of technical curiosity to explore new tools and environments independently.
  • ✦ Solid work ethic, customer-focused mindset, and adaptability in fast-paced or ambiguous technical settings.
