Job Overview
- The Software Engineering Intern position on the Platform team involves developing scalable features, backend services, and web applications within a high-throughput technology ecosystem. Interns build and support production systems that manage large volumes of daily transactions, high request rates, and real-time data processing across travel, fintech, and membership platforms.
- The day-to-day work spans full-stack engineering, requiring code contributions to both user-facing interfaces and server-side components. Interns take responsibility for entire feature lifecycles, including testing, deployment, system monitoring, and performance debugging within a cloud-hosted microservices setup.
- This 12-month internship program runs from January 4, 2027 to December 17, 2027. It is designed for students or early-career developers who possess prior web development work experience and seek hands-on engineering involvement in a fast-paced technology organization.
Key Responsibilities
- • Develop, test, and deploy end-to-end software features across frontend and backend services.
- • Write clean, production-ready code for high-volume microservices and user application interfaces.
- • Manage application features, services, caches, and databases through active monitoring and debugging.
- • Execute data-driven experiments and user testing for newly launched software components.
- • Maintain microservices built with Python (FastAPI), React (TypeScript), and PostgreSQL or Redis storage.
- • Utilize CI/CD pipelines, automated alerting, and cloud infrastructure for rapid production deployment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- • At least 8 months of previous work experience in web development, preferably within startup or scaleup environments.
- • Practical experience with modern frontend JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
- • Hands-on exposure to web server architectures and database technologies.
- • Interest in working across both frontend (React) and backend (Python) technical stacks.
- • Demonstrated ability to take technical ownership of features from concept to production.
- • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with a logical approach to debugging.
- • Availability to work 40 hours per week while maintaining a minimum 6-hour schedule overlap with Eastern Time.
- • Location anywhere within Canada.
Who May Be a Good Fit for This Role?
- This internship may suit engineering students or early-career professionals who already have practical web development experience and want to deepen their skills across the entire software stack. Candidates who thrive in fast-moving, remote-first team environments and enjoy shipping real code to production will find this structure beneficial. It is particularly well-aligned for developers interested in modern toolsets like Python FastAPI, React with TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS infrastructure.
What the Company Offers
- • One-time home office setup allowance of $300
- • Weekly Friday UberEats allowance of $25
- • Learning and development allowance of $300 per term
- • Fitness and wellness allowance of $120 per term
- • Access to the Internship Scholarship Program
- • Access to optional virtual and in-person team social events and head office access in Toronto
Application Tips
- Applicants preparing their materials may want to highlight prior work terms, internships, or practical web development experience in their resumes. Emphasizing hands-on projects involving React, TypeScript, Python, or relational databases like PostgreSQL can effectively showcase technical readiness. Demonstrating experience with version control systems, continuous integration pipelines, or cloud hosting platforms like AWS can also help demonstrate familiarity with modern engineering workflows.
