Eligibility & Location Policy
- ✦ Candidates must be citizens or legal residents residing within either the United States or Canada.
- ✦ Employees located in the San Francisco Bay Area work on a hybrid arrangement with in-office days and commute subsidies.
- ✦ Employees based outside the Bay Area operate fully remotely with home office setup and internet allowances.
Key Responsibilities
- ✦ Lead and deliver complex, high-impact software engineering projects across core product innovation areas.
- ✦ Partner closely with engineering, product, design, and data leadership to define technical roadmaps, balance architecture tradeoffs, and manage risks.
- ✦ Execute AI-native software development techniques using fully agentic workflows while helping establish internal team standards and best practices.
- ✦ Provide mentorship to fellow engineers and guide architectural direction across technical teams (applicable to senior-level roles).
- ✦ Participate actively in daily standups, sprint planning sessions, retrospectives, production software deployments, and on-call engineer rotations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- ✦ Professional software development experience, with role level scoped based on overall expertise and demonstrated capabilities.
- ✦ Hands-on engineering proficiency in technologies such as TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.
- ✦ Proven track record of adopting and applying AI-native development workflows, with experience guiding teams into AI-assisted engineering practices.
- ✦ Demonstrated technical leadership skills, including architectural decision-making, setting team direction, and maintaining high engineering standards (required for senior roles).
- ✦ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to explain complex technical concepts clearly to cross-functional partners and leadership.
Preferred Experience & Knowledge
- ✦ Prior background working in Educational Technology (EdTech) or designing software for learners, teachers, and families.
- ✦ Familiarity with search and discovery mechanisms, recommendation systems, personalization, developer tooling, data analytics, or online payment integrations.
- ✦ Previous experience developing two-sided online marketplace platforms.
- ✦ Experience working within fast-paced startup environments or rapidly expanding technology companies.
