Job Overview
- This remote-first Backend Software Engineer position offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing AI software solutions provider in a senior, hands-on capacity. The primary focus of the role is to design, develop, and scale production-grade conversational and agentic AI systems while establishing the underlying infrastructure required for peak system reliability. Working closely with modern engineering tools—including Python, Large Language Models (LLMs), and cloud services—you will take complete ownership of technical decisions, modernize existing platform architectures, and integrate third-party AI frameworks. This role is ideal for experienced software developers who thrive on technical autonomy, value clean engineering practices, and possess a solid background in putting LLMs into production. Successful candidates will enjoy working in a pragmatic, highly collaborative remote environment that balances independent architectural design with regular bi-monthly team catch-ups.
Key Responsibilities
- ▪ Architect, develop, and maintain production-ready conversational and agentic AI systems utilizing Python and LLMs.
- ▪ Integrate third-party AI APIs and services to establish reliable, high-throughput backend workflows.
- ▪ Evaluate current platform architecture to identify modernization opportunities and upgrade the technology stack for future AI capabilities.
- ▪ Build and maintain robust backend infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to ensure reliable scale.
- ▪ Take complete technical ownership and independently make key design and architectural decisions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- ▪ Deep technical proficiency in backend software engineering with Python, including asynchronous programming.
- ▪ Hands-on experience deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) into live production environments.
- ▪ Solid understanding of conversational AI workflows and building reliable, scalable backend services.
- ▪ Practical experience working with cloud platforms and modern technologies such as AWS, IaC, TypeScript, and Node.js.
- ▪ Proven capability to operate independently, take architectural ownership, and make autonomous technical decisions.
- ▪ Strong collaborative mindset, pragmatic problem-solving abilities, and enthusiasm for technical discussions
What the Company Offers
- ▪ Competitive annual salary up to £90,000 (£80,000 – £90,000 per year)
- ▪ Remote-first work arrangements within the United Kingdom
- ▪ Flexible working hours built around a 10:00 AM daily stand-up
- ▪ Bi-monthly expenses-paid team meetups
- ▪ Company pension scheme
- ▪ Comprehensive healthcare benefits
