Job Overview

Olo, a prominent SaaS technology provider for the restaurant industry, is recruiting a remote Software Engineer for its Menu engineering team based in Northern Ireland. Operating within the broader Order engineering organization, the Menu team owns and operates high-performance systems responsible for managing, publishing, and serving billions of real-time menu records. Because accurate menu updates are vital to daily restaurant operations, this team manages some of the most latency-sensitive and complex parts of Olo's digital infrastructure.
In this full-time role, you will build resilient distributed systems, write clean and maintainable code, collaborate closely with product teams to refine requirements, and assist with production deployments and monitoring. A defining aspect of this position is the daily workflow integration of modern AI development tools—such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot—supported by hands-on technical training.

★ Develop small-to-medium software features independently and take ownership of moderately complex technical tasks with guidance.
★ Write clean, maintainable code and actively engage in peer code reviews while adhering to team coding standards.
★ Collaborate closely with product managers to refine business requirements and shape effective software solutions.
★ Deliver high-quality software features within established timelines while applying industry best practices.
★ Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve common to moderately complex technical issues with minimal supervision.
★ Assist in deploying, managing, and monitoring services across production environments.
★ Construct and maintain reliable distributed systems equipped with effective resilience mechanisms.
★ Integrate AI development assistants, specifically Claude Code and GitHub Copilot, extensively into daily software engineering workflows.
★ Participate actively in team ceremonies, demonstrate personal initiative, and assist in unblocking colleagues.
★ Support and optimize the team's software delivery pipeline, including code quality, testing guidelines, and deployment practices.
★ Participate actively in on-call operational rotation duties as designated by team requirements.
★ Engage in continuous learning and skill building, including hands-on training with modern AI coding agents and IDEs.

★ Foundational understanding of distributed systems, high-concurrency architecture, network latency, garbage collection, and database internals.
★ Practical capability to write clean, maintainable code and conduct constructive peer code reviews.
★ Experience or strong interest in utilizing AI-assisted coding tools, such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot, in daily engineering practice.
★ Ability to collaborate with product managers and team members to translate business needs into technical solutions.
★ Aptitude for troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving software issues in live or staging environments.
★ Willingness and ability to participate in scheduled on-call operational support duties.
★ Legal authorization and eligibility to work remotely from within Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.
