This position offers emerging technical talent the opportunity to work alongside experienced mentors, data engineers, backend specialists, and product design teams on real-world engineering projects that impact millions of global users.
- During the internship, participants will contribute directly to large-scale distributed systems while incorporating modern AI-driven development tools into their daily software engineering workflows. Interns will engage in end-to-end task execution, write production-ready code, and collaborate across technical disciplines.
Key Responsibilities

- • Write, test, and maintain clear, well-documented, and operable software code for Pinterest systems.
- • Utilize modern AI-assisted engineering tools to brainstorm solution architectures, refine code implementations, and produce technical documentation.
- • Collaborate closely with assigned mentors, engineering managers, and cross-functional team members to deliver meaningful product features.
- • Share ideas, perspectives, and constructive feedback openly during team discussions and professional development activities.
- • Participate in company-wide events, leadership sessions, and team collaboration opportunities throughout the internship term.
Required Skills and Qualifications

- • Academic timeline on track for graduation by June 2029.
- • Solid understanding of core computer science principles, including algorithms and data structures.
- • Practical familiarity with AI tools for learning, productivity, and iterative code development, paired with sound judgment regarding security and accuracy.
- • Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or C++, alongside experience with web frameworks like React.
- • Demonstrated non-academic coding experience through personal projects, hackathons, open-source contributions, competitive programming, or GitHub repositories.
- • Strong interest in Pinterest's platform, comfort navigating ambiguous technical challenges, and a dedicated growth mindset.
Work Arrangement & Location Eligibility
- • Open exclusively to candidates residing and authorized to work within the United States.
- • Work models include hybrid arrangements (1–2 days per week of in-person collaboration at a Pinterest office location) or fully remote status in approved US locations.

Who May Be a Good Fit for This Role?
- This role may be suitable for computer science students seeking hands-on software development experience within a large-scale consumer technology environment. Ideal candidates are those who possess solid algorithmic problem-solving skills and actively build coding projects outside the classroom, such as open-source software, hackathon entries, or personal web applications. It is particularly well-suited for inquisitive learners who are comfortable navigating open-ended technical challenges, eager to collaborate with dedicated mentors, and interested in utilizing AI-enhanced developer workflows within a flexible hybrid or remote US workplace.
Application Tips
- Applicants may want to highlight their core computer science coursework, algorithmic problem-solving abilities, and non-academic technical achievements on their resume. Detailing personal software projects, hackathon achievements, open-source contributions, or active GitHub repositories will effectively demonstrate practical coding passion. On technical applications and during interviews, candidates should emphasize their experience with languages like Python, Java, C++, Go, or TypeScript, as well as front-end tools like React.
