Job Overview
- Alignerr is offering a flexible, remote contract opportunity for Software Engineers to actively contribute to the development and evaluation of artificial intelligence systems. Rather than building traditional client applications, specialists in this role directly shape next-generation AI coding models by authoring, testing, and critiquing software across multiple programming paradigms. Engineers work independently to stress-test machine learning algorithms, identify technical flaws, rank solutions, and write detailed technical evaluations explaining code behavior.
- The work covers diverse technical domains involving languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, and TypeScript. Operating on an asynchronous, self-paced schedule between 10 and 40 hours per week, software engineers work with cutting-edge Large Language Models (LLMs) alongside advanced research teams. This position is particularly well suited for analytical developers, technical reviewers, and computer science graduates who possess exceptional debugging capabilities and the ability to articulate complex technical decisions clearly in writing.
Key Responsibilities
- ★ Develop, debug, and refine clean source code across diverse programming languages, software frameworks, and technical domains.
- ★ Assess AI-generated software solutions for technical accuracy, algorithmic efficiency, code readability, and alignment with industry best practices.
- ★ Detect software bugs, logical errors, security vulnerabilities, and runtime bottlenecks within AI outputs.
- ★ Compose clear, structured technical explanations detailing why specific code implementations succeed or fail.
- ★ Design complex programming challenges, prompts, and edge-case scenarios to evaluate and benchmark AI performance.
- ★ Analyze, compare, and rank multiple machine-generated code samples based on overall engineering quality.
- ★ Execute engineering assignments independently on a flexible, asynchronous schedule.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- ★ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical software development experience.
- ★ Proven proficiency in at least one major programming language, such as Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, or TypeScript.
- ★ Strong foundational knowledge of data structures, computer science algorithms, and core software design principles.
- ★ Demonstrated capacity to read, analyze, and reason about complex code logic with accuracy and precision.
- ★ Methodical problem-solving instincts and a systematic approach to software debugging.
- ★ Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions clearly in plain language.
- ★ High self-motivation and reliability when working independently without direct daily supervision.
- Preferred
Preferred Skills and Experience
- ★ Technical familiarity across multiple languages, technical stacks, backend systems, or data engineering infrastructure.
- ★ Understanding of artificial intelligence, Large Language Models (LLMs), or prompt engineering concepts.
- ★ Background in technical writing, code review, peer mentorship, or developer education.
- ★ Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps workflows, or distributed system architectures.
- ★ Demonstrated engineering craft through competitive programming, open-source project contributions, or personal software builds.
- ★ Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Computer Science or a related discipline.
What the Company Offers
- ★ Hourly pay range from $20 to $100 per hour, based on experience and project assignment.
- ★ Fully remote, flexible contract arrangement allowing professionals to set their own schedule (10 to 40 hours per week).
- ★ Freelance autonomy paired with intellectually stimulating technical challenges.
- ★ Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technologies in partnership with leading research labs.
- ★ Direct impact on training and improving modern AI software generation tools.
- ★ Potential for long-term project extensions and ongoing contract work.
Application Tips
- Applicants may want to highlight relevant experience in code review, technical writing, or competitive programming on their resume or CV. Demonstrating mastery in core languages like Python, Java, C++, Go, or TypeScript alongside strong computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms is essential. Mentioning prior exposure to artificial intelligence, Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt design, or open-source contributions can further strengthen an application. Candidates should emphasize their ability to write clear, concise explanations of technical concepts and provide examples of debugging complex edge cases or optimizing code performance independently.
