Job Overview

Miovision is seeking a full-time, remote Senior Software Engineer to join its Adaptive team in Canada. Miovision leverages advanced artificial intelligence and transportation data to optimize municipal traffic signal networks, reducing congestion and improving safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. The Adaptive platform operates in real time, adjusting intersection signal timings second-by-second to direct real-world vehicle flow.
This is a hands-on product engineering position centered on AI-first development and agentic workflows. Rather than specializing in specific frameworks or languages, the role demands a language-agnostic engineer who can quickly master complex domain concepts, navigate distributed architecture, and operate connected edge hardware.

★ Develop a rapid understanding of real-time traffic signal management, edge device systems, distributed network architectures, and existing codebases.
★ Transform ambiguous requirements and complex operational challenges into clear system specifications, prototypes, and production software.
★ Integrate frontier AI models, coding tools, and agentic workflows into daily engineering tasks including design, code writing, testing, and debugging.
★ Establish clear technical constraints, evaluation criteria, and guardrails to guide AI-assisted development tools toward secure and reliable code generation.
★ Engineer, test, release, and maintain secure, scalable distributed applications across connected infrastructure and edge platforms.
★ Evaluate and review AI-generated software architectures and code, taking personal accountability for overall security, quality, and performance.
★ Build rapid prototypes and implement short feedback loops to validate technical solutions before committing to large-scale development.
★ Collaborate with Product, Architecture, QA, Cloud, and Support teams to align technical deliverables with measurable business goals.
★ Create technical documentation, automated test suites, and observability mechanisms to ensure AI-driven development is safe and scalable.
★ Share effective AI-enabled workflows, mentor engineering peers, and help define AI-first development standards across the company.

★ Extensive professional software engineering background designing and delivering scalable, complex production systems (typically 8+ years or equivalent experience).
★ Demonstrated ability to build customer-facing software products and make high-judgment decisions in fast-paced, evolving environments.
★ Practical experience utilizing advanced AI models and agentic workflows to accelerate software design, coding, and debugging.
★ Solid software engineering fundamentals across system architecture, reliability, testing, security, maintainability, and production operations.
★ Strong technical experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, API design, data-intensive software, and cloud/connected device platforms.
★ Language-agnostic engineering mindset with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to unfamiliar technology stacks (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C#, TypeScript, Python).
★ Working familiarity with modern engineering tools including Git, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, Linux environments, and observability systems.
★ Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs, risks, and assumptions to both technical and business partners.
★ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical work experience) is considered an asset.
