This part-time internship offers undergraduate students hands-on technical experience within a collaborative corporate technology department supporting a complex manufacturing environment.
- Working closely with experienced mentors and cross-functional teams, the selected intern will engage in full-stack software development, system integrations, and business application support. Key project areas encompass backend API integration, frontend interface development across web and mobile platforms, digital-twin initiatives with operational technology teams, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) modernization, and generative artificial intelligence implementation. This opportunity is well-suited for rising sophomores or higher majoring in Computer Science or Software Engineering who possess foundational skills in object-oriented programming, database management, and version control, and are seeking real-world problem-solving experience in an industrial technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- ★ Collaborate with software development teams through self-directed assignments, mentor check-ins, pair programming, and system shadowing.
- ★ Participate in building and designing application backend systems with REST API and webhook integrations.
- ★ Construct user interface components for business applications operating on mobile, web, and edge devices.
- ★ Partner with Operational Technology (OT) and Ignition platform teams to support manufacturing digital-twin software projects.
- ★ Assist the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) team in redesigning software applications for enhanced mobile user experiences.
- ★ Develop, test, and integrate generative AI prompts, skills, and agents into internal company systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- ★ Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.

- ★ Practical experience utilizing Git-based version control tools for code management.
- ★ Ability to interface applications with relational databases (such as Microsoft SQL or Oracle SQL) and REST APIs.
- ★ Preferred experience in web application development and frontend user interface design.
- ★ Preferred knowledge of project scoping, system architecture, data modeling, and task refinement.
- ★ Preferred familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, Docker, or application packaging concepts.
- ★ Preferred exposure to building thread-safe APIs, parallel processing scripts, or webhooks.
- ★ Preferred hands-on experience using generative AI tools like Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, or Antigravity.
Pre-Employment and Work Authorization Requirements
- ★ Must possess unrestricted authorization to work anywhere in the United States without requiring employment visa sponsorship.
- ★ Must be capable of passing a 90-day head hair drug screening upon request.
What the Company Offers
- ★ Paid compensation.
- ★ Profit-sharing bonus program.
- ★ Professional career development and structured mentorship.
- ★ Company-sponsored events and activities for interns.
- ★ Engagement in a cross-discipline collaborative intern project.
- ★ Hands-on project work focused on real-world problem solving.
- ★ Collaborative and supportive workplace environment.
Application Tips
- Applicants may want to highlight practical project work, academic coursework, or personal repositories showcasing proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as C# or Python. Emphasizing experience with relational databases (SQL), Git version control, or RESTful API design on your resume can help demonstrate core technical capabilities. Candidates who have explored web development, containerization with Docker, or emerging AI tools should make sure to detail those technical activities. Additionally, clearly indicating your academic standing, expected graduation timeframe, and readiness for on-site work in Illinois will help present a well-structured application.
