Job OverviewThis senior software engineering position focuses on driving technical leadership and architecture for high-volume routing cost engines within a global location technology platform. Operating within the navigation division, the role involves building, scaling, and maintaining mission-critical web services that support automotive, logistics, and consumer applications. The Software Development Engineer III will design resilient API tiers, implement high-performance algorithms, and lead cross-functional feature execution alongside product and operations teams. This opportunity is well suited for seasoned software engineers with extensive experience in low-level or high-performance programming languages, cloud database management, and distributed systems who are comfortable taking technical ownership and mentoring engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- • Lead engineering teams in executing end-to-end feature implementations within the broader navigation organization.
- • Design, build, and deploy resilient, scalable web services for API and routing engine infrastructure.
- • Conduct performance, quality, and capacity testing experiments to evaluate user-facing navigation platforms.
- • Collaborate with product managers, sales engineers, and technical leadership to define product roadmaps.
- • Participate in an alternating 24/7 on-call rotation to maintain continuous system availability.
- • Establish architectural standards and champion best practices for deployment, system observability, and code quality.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- • At least 8 to 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering complex technical systems.
- • Advanced programming proficiency in languages such as C++, Python, or Rust.
- • Deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, memory management, and multithreaded performance optimization.
- • Extensive experience managing cloud database infrastructure across platforms such as AWS RDS, Google Cloud Spanner, or Azure SQL.
- • Track record of technical ownership, system architecture design, and mentoring junior or mid-level engineers.
- • Strong verbal and written communication skills for articulating technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders.
