Job Overview
- This senior-level software engineering position focuses on backend system development and architectural implementation using PHP at Centaiva. The successful candidate will design, build, and maintain robust web applications using contemporary Model-View-Controller (MVC) frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony. Primary operational duties include managing relational databases, writing optimized MySQL queries, constructing RESTful APIs, and maintaining modern continuous integration and delivery pipelines. This opportunity is suited for seasoned software engineers who prioritize clean, modular, and testable code standards while collaborating effectively across cross-functional product teams. Professionals seeking an on-site, full-time commitment with afternoon-to-evening operational hours in Lahore will find this position well-aligned with their technical capabilities and career focus.
Key Responsibilities
- • Engineer, deploy, and maintain server-side web applications using object-oriented PHP architecture.
- • Develop, test, and document scalable RESTful APIs for internal and external platform services.
- • Structure relational database models, write efficient MySQL queries, and execute performance tuning.
- • Utilize Git version control and modern CI/CD tools to manage code repositories and deployment pipelines.
- • Collaborate within cross-functional software teams to diagnose technical challenges and maintain codebase quality.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- • At least 5 years of professional, hands-on backend engineering experience in PHP.
- • Advanced proficiency in modern PHP MVC frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
- • Deep understanding of MySQL database design, complex query structures, and database optimization.
- • Proven competence in creating and integrating RESTful web services.
- • Practical familiarity with Git version control and automated software integration or deployment workflows.
- • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and cross-team communication abilities.
- • Capacity to write clean, structured, maintainable, and testable source code.
- • Working knowledge of JavaScript or modern frontend technologies (nice to have).
- • Experience working within Agile or Scrum development environments (nice to have).
Who May Be a Good Fit for This Role?
- This role may be suitable for candidates who have accumulated substantial experience in backend web development and architectural design. Senior software engineers who take pride in writing well-tested, clean code and optimizing database query speeds will find their technical skills fully utilized. Additionally, professionals who thrive in collaborative team settings, possess strong analytical troubleshooting skills, and are comfortable working scheduled afternoon and evening shifts in an office environment in Lahore are likely to excel in this role.
Application Tips
- Applicants may want to highlight relevant experience leading complex PHP projects, building custom APIs, and handling large-scale database optimizations on their CV. Candidates are encouraged to emphasize their familiarity with modern frameworks like Laravel or Symfony, as well as any practical experience with frontend technologies or Agile methodologies. Demonstrating a history of maintainable code standards, effective version control practices, and cross-team collaboration in previous positions can also help strengthen an application.
