Job Overview
- JTM Construction is seeking an IT Intern to join its team in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. This temporary internship offers students an opportunity to gain practical, real-world technical experience within a fast-paced general contracting environment. Working alongside experienced IT professionals, the intern will support enterprise help desk operations, cloud environments, and specialized construction technology platforms.
- The role combines office-based technical support with field deployment, offering exposure to Microsoft 365 administration, network infrastructure, cybersecurity practices, asset management, and automation tools. The intern will assist end users with hardware and software troubleshooting while supporting technology setups in jobsite trailers across the greater Seattle area. This position is suited for motivated students pursuing studies in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
- ★ Provide first-level help desk support for staff experiencing software, hardware, or network connectivity problems.
- ★ Troubleshoot and maintain desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printing equipment, docking stations, and conference room AV systems.
- ★ Configure, set up, and deploy new computer hardware and peripheral devices for employees.
- ★ Log technical support requests, track progress, and record resolutions in the internal IT ticketing system.
- ★ Assist users with Microsoft 365 applications, specialized business software, and workstation equipment maintenance.
- ★ Support technology deployments at active construction project offices and field locations.
- ★ Assist in setting up internet connections, wireless routers, printers, and computer hardware in jobsite trailers.
- ★ Learn and support construction-specific software tools including Egnyte, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Bluebeam.
- ★ Help resolve technical and connectivity issues that affect field operations on active jobsites.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- ★ Fundamental knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software applications.
- ★ Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and technical troubleshooting aptitude.
- ★ Effective interpersonal, customer service, and verbal communication skills.
- ★ Ability to acquire new technical skills quickly, work independently, and collaborate within a team setting.
- ★ Willingness and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- ★ Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring current or future visa sponsorship.
Physical and Jobsite Requirements
- ★ Capability to lift, move, and carry IT equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- ★ Ability to remain in a stationary position at a workstation for extended periods while operating computer machinery.
- ★ Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
- ★ Ability to work in an office setting subject to moderate noise levels and regular interruptions across two floors.
- ★ Willingness to occasionally work in jobsite trailers and active construction site environments.
- ★ Flexibility to travel locally to construction jobsites located throughout the greater Seattle area.
