Job Overview
- Code and Theory is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to join its People Operations team in New York or remotely across the United States. This internship offers hands-on exposure across the complete employee lifecycle, providing foundational experience alongside experienced HR Generalists and the Chief People Officer (CPO).
- In this role, the intern will support essential HR workflows for Code and Theory as well as its subsidiary agencies, including Current, Rhythm, and Kettle. Primary duties involve managing personnel documentation, facilitating new hire onboarding, verifying employment eligibility, coordinating exit interviews, and generating HR analytics reports. Designed for proactive individuals with a strong interest in human resources and data management, this position offers a structured environment to gain practical agency-side experience while contributing to ad hoc HR initiatives across a global digital agency network.
Key Responsibilities
- ◆ Compile and update HR analytical reports, maintain internal databases, and ensure accurate record management under direction from the CPO and HR Generalists.
- ◆ Support HR Generalists during the onboarding journey for new team members across subsidiary companies.
- ◆ Execute I-9 employment verification procedures and review supporting legal documentation.
- ◆ Coordinate and schedule exit interviews for departing personnel.
- ◆ Monitor and track administrative data associated with annual and periodic performance reviews.
- ◆ Organize and archive records for active and former employees in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- ◆ Collaborate on or lead specialized HR projects in partnership with senior HR leadership and Generalists.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- ◆ High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple administrative tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced agency setting.
- ◆ Adaptable, positive, and proactive approach to daily workflows and problem-solving.
- ◆ Strong to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data management, and spreadsheet manipulation.

- ◆ Practical experience using G Suite tools, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, and Google Calendar.
