Job Details

  • Working on-site within an active aerospace manufacturing setting, the intern will design, test, build, and deploy full-stack web applications, automated data pipelines, and real-time visualization dashboards that support production operations. Technical stack areas include modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue), backend ecosystems (.NET Core, Node.js), relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server), API development, DevOps CI/CD integration, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud infrastructure. The position involves collaborating directly with shop floor supervisors, system end-users, and engineering teams to translate operational requirements into intuitive software solutions. Due to facility security protocols, candidates must hold U.S. citizenship and be eligible for a U.S. security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • ▪ Build, test, launch, and maintain full-stack web applications supporting manufacturing operations.
  • ▪ Architect database solutions and data pipelines to integrate manufacturing software and automate workflows.
  • ▪ Construct web applications that optimize data management and collection across active production systems.
  • ▪ Develop real-time data visualization tools and analytical dashboards for floor supervisors and executive leadership.
  • ▪ Interface directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders to capture operational needs and rapidly iterate software features.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • ▪ Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical major (typically Junior standing).
  • ▪ Practical project experience building full-stack web applications using tools such as React, Angular, Vue, .NET Core, Node.js, or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • ▪ Understanding of DevOps principles and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitLab or Azure DevOps.
  • ▪ Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • ▪ Solid grounding in relational database structures, SQL query optimization, and REST or GraphQL API design.
  • ▪ Strong interpersonal communication skills to collaborate with non-technical personnel and convert user needs into software features.
  • ▪ United States citizenship and eligibility to obtain a U.S. government security clearance and clear background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ▪ Prior background or exposure to high-security or regulated environments (such as DoD, aerospace, or defense).
  • ▪ Previous exposure to industrial manufacturing settings, specifically composites fabrication.
  • ▪ Track record of implementing user-centered design practices and conducting usability testing to refine software interfaces.
  • ▪ Expertise in designing ETL processes and data pipelines for analytics and reporting.
  • ▪ Python programming capabilities for constructing backend microservices, automation scripts, and data processing routines.
  • ▪ Exposure to industrial software platforms and manufacturing execution systems (MES) such as SAP, Apriso, or Autotime.

Security and Clearance Requirements

  • ▪ Applicants must possess United States Citizenship.
  • ▪ Position is located at a facility that requires special security access.
  • ▪ Candidates must be eligible for a U.S. security clearance and pass background screening in accordance with defense contractor requirements.

What the Company Offers

  • ▪ Hourly wage ranging from $24.37 to $28.15.
  • ▪ Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
  • ▪ Flexible work schedules and arrangements (e.g., 4x10 workweeks).
  • ▪ 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match.
  • ▪ Paid time off (PTO), paid vacation, sick leave, and designated holidays.
  • ▪ Paid parental leave.
  • ▪ Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
  • ▪ Educational assistance programs.
  • ▪ Life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage.
  • ▪ Potential participation in annual short-term or long-term performance incentive programs.

Prepare for Your Interview

  • These suggested questions can help you prepare for an interview by focusing on the skills, responsibilities, and technical areas relevant to this role.

Suggested Interview Questions

  • Q: How do you structure a full-stack web application from database schema design to frontend component architecture?
  • Q: Can you explain how you design and consume RESTful or GraphQL APIs to connect backend services with frontend interfaces?
  • Q: How do you write and optimize SQL queries when interfacing with relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server?
  • Q: What experience do you have setting up or utilizing CI/CD pipelines in platforms like GitLab or Azure DevOps?
  • Q: How do containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes support application deployment and scalability?
  • Q: How would you approach gathering requirements from non-technical manufacturing floor supervisors to create an operational dashboard?
  • Q: Can you describe a data processing script or ETL pipeline you built using Python or SQL?
  • Q: How do you incorporate user-centered design and feedback loops when refining web application interfaces?
  • Q: What steps do you take to maintain software quality, testing, and security when developing code in a regulated environment?

Application Tips

  • Applicants may want to highlight practical full-stack software projects, coursework, or personal repositories featuring React, Angular, Vue, .NET Core, Node.js, or Microsoft SQL Server. Detailing hands-on experience with DevOps tools, Docker containers, cloud hosting, or Python data processing scripts will demonstrate technical capability. In your resume, clearly specify your current university degree program, expected graduation date, and academic standing. Furthermore, ensure your application explicitly verifies your U.S. citizenship, as security clearance eligibility is mandatory for facility access in Fort Worth, TX.
