Job Overview
- Matomo is seeking a Full Stack Product Engineer to join a newly established European team focused on developing and enhancing Matomo Core—the foundational open-source analytics platform powering over one million websites globally. This role offers developers high autonomy to solve complex platform challenges, shape product priorities, and deliver privacy-focused analytics solutions. Working across a mature codebase utilizing technologies like PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, Vue.js, and TypeScript, the engineer will own feature initiatives from initial problem definition to post-launch iteration. The position emphasizes outcome-driven engineering, pragmatic platform evolution, and heavy integration of AI-assisted tools within daily workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- ★ Analyze user and platform challenges to help determine technical priorities and shape product direction.
- ★ Develop solutions across the complete software stack, spanning frontend components, backend logic, APIs, and database operations.
- ★ Maintain and evolve Matomo Core to enhance capabilities without disrupting existing integrations, plugins, or cloud deployments.
- ★ Leverage AI-assisted development tools continuously throughout the software engineering workflow to boost efficiency and maintain high quality.
- ★ Release software updates incrementally, evaluate performance based on real-world usage data, and refine functionality continuously.
- ★ Balance immediate bug fixes with long-term platform health by addressing underlying causes and evaluating architectural trade-offs.
